Review|Shin-Osaka Station’s Italian Style Ramen “Nankinmachi Koran”(皇蘭)

Life in Osaka

The restaurant introduced here is the Shin-Osaka branch of Nankinmachi Koran, which has its main store in Nankinmachi, Kobe.

Located right next to the ticket gates of Osaka Metro Midosuji Line Shin-Osaka Station, this restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy a quick bowl of ramen before traveling on the Shinkansen bullet train.

What is Koran?

The “Koran” introduced here is a restaurant famous for its pork buns in Nankinmachi, Chinatown in Kobe City.

Koran’s handmade pork buns in Kobe’s Nankinmachi sell as many as 500,000 per month.

Notable Menu

I ordered

Shrimp and tomato basil Ramen (1180 yen incl. tax)

If you want to taste more traditional/signature ramen, Kouran Kobe Ramen is the one for you. Also don’t forget to order Koran Pork Bun along with the ramen.

Tomato ramen and Shrimp & tomato basil ramen are a fusion of Italian and Japanese Ramen. If you already know how most Japanese ramen tastes, you may give it a try.

How was the taste of ramen?

Shrimp and tomato basil Ramen|海老とトマトのバジルラーメン

Based on a light salt ramen, this ramen has an Italian flavor with basil, tomatoes, and shrimp. This is the only place where Italian ramen is available!

The standard ramen is good, but while you are in Japan, it is worth trying the new type of ramen that can only be found in Japan.

Recommended for those who want to try a new type of ramen. The combination of the rich flavor of basil and the lightness of salt ramen is perfect.

How long was the queue?

There are plenty of seats so you may not need to wait.

Overall Review

Overall Review ★★★☆☆(3.0/5.0)

The new Italian-style ramen was very tasty with plump shrimp and basil flavor.

Because of its easy accessibility, you should go to Koran rather than going to McDonald’s right next to Koran.
